PMP Exam Requirements
The PMP examination is open to all project managers who meet the eligibility requirements,
dictated by the PMP Handbook, published by the PMI (Project Management Institute).

- A secondary degree (high school diploma or associate's degree) and a minimum of
five years of professional project management experience, including 7,500 hours
that were spent leading a project.
- At least 35 contact hours of formal project management education
OR
- A four-year degree (bachelor's degree) and a minimum of three years of project management
experience, including 4,500 hours that were spent leading a project.
- At least 35 contact hours of formal project management education
In addition, all PMP applicants must agree to PMI's Code of Ethics and Professional
Conduct.
These PMP eligibility requirements are important in maintaining the professionalism
and level of caliber established at the Project Management Institute. If you have
not met any of these requirements, make it a professional goal, in order to eventually
become PMP certified.
